Apple Tasting

Sunday 15th October saw the Club Service Chairperson (Yvette) and her able assistant at Blackmoor Farm in Hampshire for the Apple Tasting event.

The display of apples looked attractive and appetising. A specialist was on hand to identify apple varieties brought along by visitors. Nineteen varieties of apple and three of pear were available for tasting; we tried them all!

The helpers at the tasting tables were kept very busy and queues soon built up. There were samples, examples and a set of notes about each variety's history and cultivation.

As well as sampling the apples, we made notes and took photographs; we then went to the farm shop to purchase supplies (6 varieties) for our apple tasting at the club.

The following evening we laid out the chosen varieties for the Shepperton Rotarians and their guests to sample.

Yvette explained the history and quality of the examples and we all enjoyed an interesting munch, although the conversation was more restrained than during and after the wine tasting evening.
